Those girls who disappear
AR Video and Installation 2022
“Those girls who disappear” is a horror video, a non-linear narrative from a female perspective and based on an interactive experience. In it, the girls face unpredictable and unjustified dilemmas and dangers that occur in everyday scenarios, where they are threatened with violence for various reasons and forced to disappear. My work is inspired by the violence suffered by women over the years, where girls have been beaten, trafficked, stabbed, swapped and married. When I learned that these innocent girls had been disappeared and destroyed, I could no longer control my tears. My anger and pain have turned into a creative impulse and have always motivated me to fight for women's freedom and equality.
In my work the interaction with the viewer takes place through the recognition of different images. The inspiration for the images comes from the color of blood created by the female body. It also suggests the recurrence of episodes of violence. White cages were chosen as the subject of the installation, stacked up to form.an irregular shape. They represent society, law, technology, folklore and perception which are the biggest cages for women. Identifiable images are attached to the bottom of each cage and the viewer can scan the image of their choice. When the viewer turns on the phone and moves form image to image, they will see a "sculpture" created with visual effects on the screen. A video will play interspersed with a variety of characters and, when all of the images have been activated the viewer will be able to see the world built by all of the visual effects. Each person can have their own visual storytelling experience.
